Robert studied trumpet at the Inner London Education Authority and Centre for Young Musicians in London and then at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
He established a busy career as a multi-instrumentalist performing on a remarkable list of instruments including all types of early, global winds and various bagpipes, he is known for playing the Uilleann pipes, brass, flutes, whistles, percussion and singing.
He has a long list of credits as a composer, arranger and performer for film, television and radio. He appeared in Sharpe’s Sword as the pipe major and other characters in film and TV, he has also performed on over forty major feature film soundtracks including Robin Hood, The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit and Apocalypto. He has also worked on many schools and youth education projects with young people in workshops and demonstrating musical instruments and genres. Roberts compositions for library music have been used on countless TV productions including Peaky Binders and Spongebob Squarepants.
